Partial Dentures

Partial DenturesReplacing multiple lost teeth is now comfortable and easy with the use of dentures. If you have lost all of your teeth, then full dentures will be made for you. However, if you still have some of your natural teeth, then partial dentures may be just the right fit for you!

What is a Partial Denture?

Dentures are artificial teeth attached to a flesh-colored acrylic base. This removable prosthetic device is customized to fit over your gums leaving you with a natural looking, full functioning set of teeth.

Partial dentures attach in your mouth by means of a metal framework that is secured to your natural teeth. In some instances, your dentist may decide to place crowns over some of your natural teeth providing anchors for the partial denture.

What You Can Expect

When you first begin wearing your partial denture, your dentist, Dr. Matson, may request that you wear the denture at all times so that you can easily point out any areas that need fine-tuning. Doing so may result in minor soreness as you adjust to this new prosthesis. Communicate clearly with Dr. Matson, informing him of any discomfort, and he will gladly adjust your denture as needed until you have just the right fit!

When you first begin wearing it, it’s completely normal for your partial denture to feel a bit odd in your mouth. It takes time to adjust to this new feeling when eating and speaking. With time and practice, you will soon adjust. Over time, you will also become more comfortable with inserting and removing your partial denture. Soon, these activities will become second nature.

Long Term Maintenance

Over time, your mouth will naturally change. When this happens, Dr. Matson will need to adjust your partial denture to accommodate. Keeping regular, open communication with your Auburn dentist will ensure that you will fully enjoy and benefit from your fully customized partial denture!
